August 20, 2008 - The PSP design crew apparently never sits still. During its Games Convention press conference over in Leipzig, Germany, Sony took the wraps off of the much-rumored PSP 3000. The new device has the same base functionality as the current PSP (known as PSP slim, aka the PSP 2000), and in fact looks pretty much the same. However, there are of course a couple new features.
The PSP 3000 will include a built-in microphone for use with Skype and Go Messenger. It will also feature an "enhanced" LCD screen, with more vibrant colors and reduced glare when using it outside.
The system will launch in Europe on October 15th for 199 Euros, with the PSP slim dropping to 169 Euros.
OMG.. Should I wait for the new PSP 3000? I went back to Queensway to help out today and was checking out the prices there after work. The lowest I got for a PSP Slim package was $298. I asked them about the new series and they said we would most probably have to wait a while for it to launch in Singapore and even longer for the geniuses to find ways to crack and modify them. Another guy even said that the prices for the PSP Slim will increase (what?) due to higher demand for modified PSPs since the new PSP 3000 would be too hard to modify or not even able to modify.
Alright, I'm seriously confused now. So is the price going to increase or decrease? Up or down? These people are really out to confuse me. Well, since patience is a virtue, I didn't get mine today. Although I so intended to. What a disappointment. :(
